Why Frankincense is My Favourite Essential Oil when it Comes to Anti-Ageing Skincare
Even though the quickest way to absorb essential oils is by inhaling their aroma (having a direct effect on the brain), they can also be absorbed via the skin in a cream or when diluted with a carrier oil. These routes allow essential oils to enter into the bloodstream making their healing properties very effective.
There are a lot of different factors that influence the amount of essential oil that is absorbed into the skin (skin type also makes a difference). An easily absorbed carrier oil would help speed up the process.
Using essential oils in creams, balms, ointments and other skincare products are truly effective ways to promote their therapeutic benefits. Essential oils can help skin conditions such as bruising, psoriasis, varicose veins, eczema, and many more.
Using Frankincense Essential Oil for Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Why Frankincense Essential Oil is my Favourite Oil for Fine Lines and Wrinkles
My favourite essential oil when it comes to treating fine lines and wrinkles is frankincense (Boswellia carterii).
This wonderful essential oil is fantastic for toning skin complexion and is particularly effective for mature or sun-damaged skin. It can be used as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic oil.
I love its ‘spiritual’ aroma which helps calm nerves and makes it a good choice for treating anxiety.
Frankincense essential oil helps close pores. With rejuvenating qualities it is an excellent choice for mature complexions. It helps to minimise fine lines and wrinkles. It reduces the appearance of blemishes and sun-damaged skin. The fragrance of this oil is quite rich; steam-distilled from the tree resin, this oil produces a pale-ish yellow (sometimes greenish) oil with a resinous, spicy and sweet scent.
I use frankincense essential oil in all of my products for mature skincare.
I am yet to use it in the burner for spiritual practices which I know it is also well known for. I adore its scent and I feel somehow really close to this wonderful essential oil.
If you want to try frankincense essential oil in your skincare make sure to add only up to 1% to your favourite carrier oil for facial products and up to 2.5% for body products.
Frankincense essential oil is non-toxic and non-irritant in dilution. It promotes feelings of wellbeing and positivity so you can’t really go wrong with this all-rounder little gem! And, price point is not as high as other essential oils so I suggest you give this miracle oil a try.
