Cedarwood Essential Oil
by britten thompson
Cedarwood essential oil has a strong and sweet woody aroma with balsamic notes. It is a base note that blends well with citrus essential oils like bergamot or sweet orange as well as other woody essential oils like cypress, spruce and douglas fir.
Cedarwood essential oil is made through the steam distillation of the needles, bark and berries of cedar trees.
Cedarwood essential oil has a number of therapeutic properties including: anti-inflammatory, diuretic, astringent, antiseptic, insecticidal and sedative. These properties make it a very versatile essential oil that can be used in a number of different ways to promote health.

To relieve acne which develops as a result of oil skin, blend 4 drops of cedarwood essential oil with 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and dilute the blend into 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil. Massage the blend into the affected area in a circular motion for 2 - 3 minutes. Use a cotton pad to remove any excess mixture.

Diffuse 10 - 15 drops of cedarwood essential oil in your outdoor aromatherapy diffuser to keep bugs at bay while enjoying a backyard barbecue. You can also dilute 30 drops of cedarwood essential oil into 100ml of your favourite hydrosol (we recommend a lavender hydrosol) and spray it on your skin before heading out into the great outdoors. The mixture acts as a natural bug-off spray.
