A Guide to Becoming Happier
Hi everyone, my name is Martina. I'm the voice behind YogaFantasy.
Originally I am from a tiny village called Prlov, which is located in the middle of the mountains in the Czech Republic, but the last 5 years I have been living in beautiful Germany.
I decided to write for The Essential Life because, I would love to share a piece of myself with you & hope to inspire you.

My Advice For Finding Yourself & Finding Happiness
My Journey to Finding Happiness
A long time ago, I was very unhappy. I was looking for happiness, but I could not find it.
I was stressed & I wanted more & more material things to try to fill the void that unhappiness created within me. I was not satisfied with myself. I was angry & on the edge. I'm guessing my story is not unlike your own.
Once, I woke up & told myself to stop! I asked myself, "do you really want to live in the fear & stress?" My answer was a resounding "NO!"
Surrounding Myself in Positivity
I started reading positive books & I started to meditate. “Thanks God - Universe for it.” It changed my life a lot. I became a better version of me.
Each year, I found that I was happier, more relaxed & finally, I started to be myself. I stopped trying so hard to be someone who I was not. I showed my real face. I started to do the things I love. I didn't care about what others said.
I started to love myself.
How Loving Myself Changed My Life
That's it? From the beginning, yes.
But, It was not an immediate fix. It took a long time. It was a hard job. I needed to be patient. Truly, I feel better than before. Of course, I am still working on myself. But once you get started you will not stop!
Simple Changes to Start Loving Yourself
1. Meditation - quiet your mind & thoughts
2. Affirmations - love yourself
3. Think positive - good vibes
Well, I would strongly suggest to everyone to begin with meditation.
I recommend you start by meditating for 5 minutes each day for the first week. By the second week, bump it up to 10 minutes per day. By the third week, try for 15 minutes each day & by the fourth week, 20 minutes per day.
What next? Start loving your body, & loving yourself!
Before you get out of bed, say these morning affirmations: I love my body, I love everything about myself, I'm beautiful, I am who I am! Give yourself a big smile & start your day with positive mind!
Even if it's raining, cold or cloudy. I know, it's not so comfortable, but sometimes Mother Nature needs a bit rainy days - be positive.
I wish you the best in finding your happiness & your true self. Don't forget, love yourself & be your own reason to smile.
