7 Health-Related Reasons Every Home Needs an Aromatherapy Diffuser

Recently, we shared an article detailing everything you need to know about ultrasonic aromatherapy diffusers. We explained how they work, how you use them, what they do & where to buy a high-quality & reliable diffuser. What we forgot go mention, however, was all of the reasons why you should invest in an aromatherapy diffuser for your home.

Here at The Essential Life, we're huge fans of our aromatherapy diffusers. For me personally, from the moment I purchased my first diffuser, it was love. I enjoyed my Essential Oil diffuser so much, I've adopted a diffuser gift-giving policy. For absolutely every occasion the calls for gift giving, I give this diffuser as a gift, along with some thoughtfully selected Essential Oils.

Everyone I have presented with a diffuser has fallen head over heels in love with their diffuser & Essential Oils. It is this immensely positive reaction to diffusers, as well as my own positive experience with them, that inspires me to share as much information about diffusers with The Essential Life community as possible.

Why Your Home Needs an Essential Oil Diffuser

A Diffuser Will Keep Illness at Bay

The way that an Essential Oil diffuser works is that it emits ultrasonic sound vibrations. These vibrations agitate the water & work to seperate the water molecules into negatively charged ions. These negatively charged ions are the visible mist that is produced by your diffuser. The negatively charged ionic mist attracts & binds with harmful positively charged ions present in the air you breathe. This serves to purify your air to keep your home cleaner.

When you add a few drops of Essential Oil to your diffuser, the Essential Oil that you use is dispersed into the air along with the negatively charged ionic mist. A property of all Essential Oils is that they are naturally antibacterial which helps to cleanse your home of germs to help keep you & your family healthier.

Diffusing a blend of Tea Tree, Thyme & Cinnamon Essential Oils is particularly effective when it comes to protecting your family from germs & infection. Try this blend during cold & flu season.

A Diffuser Will Help to Ease Stress

Depending upon which diffuser model you select for your home, there are a number of different ways that an Essential Oil diffuser will help to ease & relieve feelings of stress & anxiety.

In addition to functioning as a diffuser, many ultrasonic diffuser models have additional features, including a light feature & a white noise, or built in sound machine. Some diffusers even play gentle music that is perfect for meditation of preparing your body for rest.

While these soothing features help to relieve stress, diffusing a blend of stress-relieving Essential Oils will provide the added oomph to help you relax. Try diffusing a blend of Bergamot, Lavender & Cedarwood Essential Oils if you've had a stressful day, or you just need to unwind.

A Diffuser Will Help With Allergy Symptoms & Hay Fever

When allergy season is at its worst, a diffuser can help. by producing negative ions & helping to purify the air, an Essential Oil diffuser removes harmful dust & allergens from the air.

For more powerful allergy relief, try diffusing a blend of Peppermint, Lavender & Lemon Essential Oils.

A Diffuser Will Help With Snoring

Depending upon the reasons why you, or your significant other snore, a diffuser can help to alleviate the problem. Nasal & sinus congestion is at the root of a number of cases of snoring. As an aromatherapy diffuser purifies the air, it helps to alleviate congestion as well.

For add relief of nasal congestion, try diffusing a blend of Eucalyptus & Frankincense Essential Oil in the evening while you sleep.

A Diffuser Will Help You Get to Sleep

If you have trouble getting to sleep, or struggle to stay asleep through the evening, an Essential Oil diffuser will help.

While ultrasonic sound vibrates at a frequency most people cannot hear, the agitation of the water, which results from the sound vibrations, often produces a sound reminiscent of a babbling brook or stream. This soothing sound provides a relaxing background noise to focus on as you drift off to sleep.

For added insomnia-relief power, try diffusing a blend of Chamomile & Cedarwood Essential Oils before bed & while you sleep.

A Diffuser Will Help Keep Bugs & Pests out of Your Home

Diffusing a blend of Lavender, Peppermint & Lemongrass Essential Oils helps to repel most insects & keeps other pests & home invaders at bay as well. Mice, rats, spiders & cockroaches all have a natural aversion to Peppermint Essential Oil, while Lavender & Lemongrass serve to repel flying insects.

While these Essential Oils can also be blended with distilled water in a spray bottle for effective bug & pest control, an Essential Oil diffuser covers a larger area & keeps your home more effectively guarded & protected.

A Diffuser is a Safe Alternative to Candles

While candles can be a lovely addition to any home, there are a number of situations where candles aren't suitable or safe. In homes with small children, candles aren't always a safe option. Additionally, if your home is anything like ours, & you find it full of cats, candles pose a serious safety hazard & fire risk as curious kitties threaten to knock your favourite candle to the floor.

Essential Oil diffusers are much safe than candles because they do not involve an open flame, nor do they heat the water. which means, if a child spills the contents of a diffuser on themselves, tragedy does not ensue. If your cat maliciously dumps your diffuser to the ground, the worst thing that is going to happen is that things might get a little bit wet.

She recently left the beautiful & untamed chill of Canada for the blistering & somewhat oppressive heat of Australia. Her list of pastimes is short & includes reading, writing, petting cats, overeating & alphabetizing things. She's a fan of Windex on Facebook because who doesn't want a streak free shine? When Britten isn't writing, reading, or organizing things in her home, she can be found cuddling with her boyfriend, arguing about why Rajon Rondo is the best point guard in the history of ever, browsing Gumtree for a future cat or kitten, or contemplating days gone by, the passage of time & how ridiculous it is that humans have yet to evolve enough to grow a third set of teeth.
