Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea Tree is very effective for treating dandruff & is gentle enough to be used on babies & young children. Add 15-25 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil to 350ml of organic, chemical & dye free shampoo & use at bath time as you would any other shampoo. When using Essential Oils in this way be very careful to keep the Shampoo away from the eyes as it may cause irritation.
Rosemary Essential Oil
Rosemary can be added to shampoo in the same way as Tea Tree Essential Oil to treat dandruff, & helps promote hair growth in cases of receding hair lines or alopecia. When added to shampoo it can be used as normal, or for a stronger effect it can be made into a scalp treatment.
The scalp treatment is made by combining 10-12 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil with 30ml of Olive Oil. This treatment is then applied directly to the scalp & covered with a warm, damp towel. Cover the towel in plastic to retain as much heat as possible & leave in place until completely cool. Rosemary Oil also help keep hair healthy & shiny.
Thyme Essential Oil
Thyme is another oil with benefits to the scalp. The soothing & purifying properties of this oil treat dandruff by softening & refreshing the hardened layer of sebum, the oil naturally secreted by your skin which lubricates & guards against infection. Thyme Essential Oil has the added benefits of keeping hair soft & shiny, while it’s natural conditioning effect detangles hair making it much easier to brush & comb. Thyme Essential Oil works particularly well when combined with Olive Oil & used as a scalp treatment.
Oregano Essential Oil
Oregano is one of the most powerful anti-dandruff treatments is. To make use of this oil add 15-20 drops to 350ml of organic, chemical & dye free shampoo & vigorously massage into the scalp. Allow the shampoo to work for 2-3 minutes & rinse thoroughly. Be very careful to avoid getting any shampoo in the eyes as Oregano Oil is very potent & will cause irritation.
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon is very good for the scalp, & skin in general, restoring normal function to dry & damaged skin. This oil can help with thinning hair & nail growth by balancing the skin’s sebum production.

to create your own, all-natural antidandruff shampoo, blend the following Essential Oils into a natural & organic shampoo.
- 20 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
- 20 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 20 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
- 10 drops Thyme Essential Oils
- 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
Place the ingredients in bowl or blender & mix thoroughly. Use this anti-dandruff shampoo each time you wash your hair.
