Reach Your Fitness Goals in 2018 With Essential Oils

As January comes to a close many of us are already struggling to stick to the goals that we set for ourselves when the calendar ticked over to the New Year.  A good number of us set health & fitness goals for the year ahead & as we come up on February, these health & fitness goals are already in danger of falling by the wayside.

There is mounting evidence which suggests that making New Year's Resolutions is a waste of time.  Recent studies have shown that only 8 percent of people actually stick to their resolutions throughout the year. This year, we want you to be part of that 8 percent, so we're helping you stick to your health & fitness goals for The New Year with aromatherapy & Essential Oils.

How to Use Essential Oils for Fitness

Many professional athletes use Essential Oils & Aromatherapy to support them in their workout & fitness regime.  Essential Oils can be used before you workout to boost your energy levels & motivation.  After you workout, Essential Oils can be used to help you body recover, heal & prevent muscle strain.  The benefit of using Aromatherapy pre & post workout is that it provides a remedy which is effective, natural & non-toxic.

Essential Oil Pre-Workout

Before you workout, it is important to drink a lot of water.  Start hydrating your body roughly 30 minutes before you plan to hit the gym or go for a run.  If you'd like to add a bit of motivation to your water, dry adding 3-4 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil to a 250ml glass of water.

Before you workout, you can also try adding a bit more motivation to your life by diffusing an uplifting blend of Essential Oils in your home.  Oils like Peppermint, Lemon & Rosemary are all great oils to diffuse while getting your body ready for a serious workout.

To keep your energy levels high while you workout, try rubbing 2 drops each of Peppermint Essential Oil & Lemon Grass Essential Oil under your nose.  Both of these oils are uplifting & mood enhancing making them perfect for inhaling while you work out or go for a run.

Essential Oil Post-Workout

How nice would it be to have a professional Aromatherapy massage after each workout?  Unfortunately, that won't happen for most of us.  You can be your own massage therapist, however, & create your very own post-workout massage oil.

Post-Workout Essential Oil Massage Oil Recipe

The following Essential Oil recipe can be added directly to your bath water by dividing all Essential Oil quantities by 5, or it can be diluted into 100ml of Carrier Oil & used as a Massage Oil to help with aches & pains following an intense workout.

  • 20 drops - Ginger Essential Oil
  • 10 drops - Lavender Essential Oil
  • 10 drops - Rosemary Essential Oil
  • 10 drops - Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Following your workout, a nice soak in warm bath water, or a massage oil with healing Essential Oils can prevent muscle strain leaving you more motivated to workout in the future.

The Essential Life Britten Thompson

Who is Britten? She's a reticent little beast born in the wilds of Northern Alberta to a foul-mouthed, French-Canadian father & an angry, stiff-upper-lipped mother. Britten is, almost always, wild-haired & poorly dressed. She recently left the beautiful & untamed chill of Canada for the blistering & somewhat oppressive heat of Australia. Her list of pastimes is short & includes reading, writing, petting cats, overeating & alphabetizing things. She's a fan of Windex on Facebook because who doesn't want a streak free shine? She dreams of one day writing a super-awesome novel that affords her & her partner a comfortable lifestyle, a large property, a few horses & the means with which to foster children in need...or just becoming a red panda.

When Britten isn't writing, reading, or organizing things in her home, she can be found cuddling with her boyfriend, arguing about why Rajon Rondo is the best point guard in the history of ever, browsing Gumtree for a future cat or kitten, or contemplating days gone by, the passage of time & how ridiculous it is that humans have yet to evolve enough to grow a third set of teeth.
