What is Holistic Health
Holistic Health is typically associated with alternative healthcare, however, mainstream healthcare is accepting the concept of Holistic Healing more-&-more as studies increasingly support the idea of treating the entirety of a person rather than treating the symptoms of malady, disease and illness.
The Holistic Healing Difference
It is important to note that Holistic Health is itself not a method of treatment. Instead, Holistic Health is an ideology that focuses on how healthcare should be applied to a person's life. Holistic approaches to health & fitness involve the idea that achieving & maintaining good health is more than just treating physical symptoms. Rather, Holistic Health incorporates mental, emotional, & spiritual well-being.
The concept of Holistic Health has been around a long time. It's roots can be traced all the way back to 4th Century B.C. Socrates touched upon the subject when he said "for the part can never be well unless the whole is well". Despite a long history, Holism has only recently begun to gain traction in the traditional medical treatment of illness.
Types of Holistic Medicine
Acupuncture is the most popular type of Holistic Health. In traditional medicine, Acupuncture has gained the most acceptance as a form of healthcare. The roots of Acupuncture can be traced back to Traditional Chinese Medicine, to TMC. The idea behind Acupuncture is that "chi" can be balanced by needling key acupuncture points along the meridian.
Aromatherapy is the use of aromatic plant extracts in the form of Essential Oils & Herbal Oils in the treatment of disease. Aromatherapy uses Essential Oils for healing & cosmetic applications such a skin care & reducing the signs of ageing.
The first law of Homeopathy is the Law of Similars. This law states that any substance which causes symptoms of a disease in a person can also be used to cure disease in that person. Homeopathy is a method of Holistic Health in which ailments are treated with minute doses of natural substances that in larger amounts would produce symptoms of the illness.
Osteopathy is a system of complimentary medicine involving the treatment of medical disorders through the manipulation & massage of the skeleton & musculature. Osteopathy assess the mobility of problem areas of a person's body & produces a treatment plan which varies from person to person.
Reiki is a method of healing which is based upon the idea that a Reiki Therapist can channel energy into a patient by means of touch. In this way, a Reiki Therapist can activate the natural healing process of a person's body by restoring mental & emotional well-being.
Holistic Health is a healthcare method which encompasses a person's body, mind, & spirit as well as the connection between these three elements. These three aspects of a person are important to overall Wellness & Healing.
